On the slopes of lower Olympus, in the shadow of the mountain of the gods, at an altitude of 700 meters and with a magnificent view of the Thermaikos Gulf, you will find Palaios Panteleimonas.

Just 43 kilometers from Katerini, at the southwestern edge of Central Macedonia, on the eastern slopes of Mount Olympus, is the residence of the twelve gods of antiquity.

There was founded, at the end of the 14th century, the picturesque village called Paleos Panteleimonas.

A traditional settlement that has managed to preserve its picturesqueness, in an area full of natural beauties. Palaios Panteleimonas is classified as a traditional settlement, as it is one of the best examples of traditional Macedonian architecture in northern Greece.

In the central paved square of the village with the century-old plane trees, Palaios Panteleimonas managed to maintain its local “colour” as it was almost deserted in the 1950s.

For thirty years the village of Palaios Panteleimonas had been abandoned by its inhabitants, who built Neos Panteleimonas, 6 km away from the sea. Since the 1980s, however, the village started to come back to life.

The locals returned and restored the old Macedonian mansions, the school, the cobbled streets and the cobbled square in the settlement of Palaios Panteleimonas.
