Paleos Panteleimon of Pieria

On the slopes of lower Olympus, in the shadow of the mountain of the gods, at an altitude of 700 meters and with a magnificent view of the Thermaikos Gulf, just 43 kilometers from Katerini, at the southwestern edge of Central Macedonia, on the eastern slopes of Olympus, the residence of the twelve gods of antiquity is built. Old Panteleimon
, its local “colour” as it was almost deserted in the 1950s. For thirty years the village had been abandoned by its inhabitants, who built Neos Panteleimon, 6 km away from the sea. Since the 1980s, however, the village started to come back to life. The locals returned and restored the old Macedonian mansions, the school, the cobbled streets and the cobbled square.
